Wor(l)d of Morrissey
We're back! Welcome to the world of Morrissey's lyrics.

This site and all of the work made to keep it updated during the last 26 years are dedicated to my beloved friend MaCa65 who suddenly left this lonely planet
and me without words. Throughout the short stretch of time that we have been given to spend together as close friends, we shared many things,
thoughts, afternoons, views, passions and some bits of Life. Back in 1983, together we discovered a band called The Smiths and together since then, we followed
Morrissey's career as one of the most influential and inspiring singer/artist/poet of our age. Maca65 has always been a strong supporter since when I first launched WoM,
so this is and will always be entirely for you, my friend. -- David

Don't Make Fun Of Daddy's Voice

Long ago when he was young and restless
Suddenly Daddy saw the beckoning finger of fate

Don't make fun of Daddy's voice
Because he can't help it
When he was a teenage boy
Something got stuck in his throat

When you are young you crave affection
And it can come from the strangest direction

Don't make fun of Daddy's voice
Because he can't help it
When he was a teenage boy
Something got stuck in his throat

Don't make fun of Daddy's voice
Because he can't help it
When he was a teenage boy
Something got stuck in his throat

No te diviertes con Papi?

No te diviertes con Papi?: in Spanish, same as "don't you have fun with your daddy?" - Maybe it was supposed to mean "Don't make fun of daddy's voice, no" but the correspondent Spanish would be "No te burles con papi".

The song is probaly about an ordinary middle-aged man with kids, who happens to have an unusual voice. When he was a lonely, desperate teenager, he experimented with other men and had an unfortunate accident that left him with a permanent injury to his larynx, affecting the way he speaks. The way the lyrics are written, it seems like a mother or a relative speaking to the man's kid(s), explaining why their daddy has such a strange voice.

It’s definitely a humorous song with a good melody — nothing to take too seriously, but if you really want to analyze it, that’s what it’s about.

No te diviertes con Papi?: in spagnolo nel testo - - Forse avrebbe dovuto significare "Don't make fun of daddy's voice, no", ma la corrispondente espressione spagnola sarebbe stata "No te burles con papi, no".
