Wor(l)d of Morrissey
We're back! Welcome to the world of Morrissey's lyrics.

This site and all of the work made to keep it updated during the last 25 years are dedicated to my beloved friend MaCa65 who suddenly left this lonely planet
and me without words. Throughout the short stretch of time that we have been given to spend together as close friends, we shared many things,
thoughts, passions and some bits of Life. Back in 1983, together we discovered a band called The Smiths and together since then, we followed Morrissey's career
as one of the most influential and inspiring singer/artist/poet of our age. Maca65 has always been a strong supporter since when I first launched WoM,
so this is and will always be entirely for you, my friend. -- David

I Have Forgiven Jesus

I was a good kid
I wouldn't do you no harm
I was a nice kid
With a nice paper round

Forgive me any pain
I may have brung to you
With God's help I know
I'll always be near to you

But Jesus hurt me
When he deserted me, but
I have forgiven Jesus
For all the desire
He placed in me when there's nothing
I can do with this desire

I was a good kid
Through hail and snow
I'd go just to moon you
I carried my heart in my hand
Do you understand?
Do you understand?

But Jesus hurt me
When He deserted me, but
I have forgiven Jesus
For all of the love
He placed in me when there's no one
I can turn to with this love

Monday - humiliation
Tuesday - suffocation
Wednesday - condescension
Thursday - is pathetic
By Friday life has killed me
By Friday life has killed me

Oh pretty one
Oh pretty one

Why did you give me so much desire
When there is nowhere I can go to offload this desire?
And why did you give me so much love in a loveless world
When there is no one I can turn to
To unlock all this love?
And why did you stick me in self deprecating bones and skin?
Jesus do you hate me?
Why did you stick me in self deprecating bones and skin?
Do you hate me?
Do you hate me?
Do you hate me?
Do you hate me?
Do you hate me?

In "Live at Earl's Court" Morrissey sings:

I have forgiven Jesus
For all the desire
He's placed in me when there's nothing
I can do with this desire

and

I have forgiven Jesus
For all of the love
He placed in me when there's no one
I can turn to with this love

Ho perdonato Cristo

Ero un bambino buono
Non ti avrei fatto alcun male
Ero un bel bambino
Con un bel giro di consegne

Perdonami qualsiasi dolore
che posso averti procurato
Con l'aiuto di Dio so che
ti sarò sempre vicino

Ma Cristo mi ha ferito
quando mi ha abbandonato, ma
ti ho perdonato, Cristo

E perché mi hai infilato in ossa e pelle autodenigratorie?
Cristo, tu mi odi?
Perché mi hai infilato in ossa e pelle autodenigratorie?
Tu mi odi?
Tu mi odi?
Tu mi odi?
Tu mi odi?
Tu mi odi?

paper round: lett. "il giro dei giornali", ossia il giro di consegne a domicilio dei quotidiani o di giornali che solitamente negli USA o in Gran Bretagna vengono effettuate da ragazzi o adolescenti per racimolare qualche soldo.

I have forgiven Jesus
For all the desire
He's placed in me when there's nothing
I can do with this desire

e nella strofa seguente:

I have forgiven Jesus

He placed in me when there's no one
I can turn to with this love
