Wor(l)d of Morrissey
We're back! Welcome to the world of Morrissey's lyrics.

This site and all of the work made to keep it updated during the last 25 years are dedicated to my beloved friend MaCa65 who suddenly left this lonely planet
and me without words. Throughout the short stretch of time that we have been given to spend together as close friends, we shared many things,
thoughts, passions and some bits of Life. Back in 1983, together we discovered a band called The Smiths and together since then, we followed Morrissey's career
as one of the most influential and inspiring singer/artist/poet of our age. Maca65 has always been a strong supporter since when I first launched WoM,
so this is and will always be entirely for you, my friend. -- David

Dear God, Please Help Me

I am walking through Rome
With my heart on a string
Dear God, please help me

And I am so very tired
Of doing the right thing
Dear God, please help me

There are explosive kegs
Between my legs
Dear God, please help me

Will you follow and know
Know me more than you do
Track me down
And try to win me?

Then he motions to me
With his hand on my knee
Dear God, did this kind of thing happen to you?

Now I'm spreading your legs
With mine in-between
Dear God, if I could I would help you

And now I am walking through Rome
And there is no room to move
But the heart feels free

The heart feels free
The heart feels free
But the heart... feels free

The heart feels free
The heart feels free

«Grant me chastity and continence, but not yet» - St. Augustin

«I can resist anything but temptation.» - Oscar Wilde, Lady Windermere's Fan, 1892, Act I

In this track, Morrissey was inspired in a way by the Vatican. "You can't be here and be unaware of the presence of religion, it's very imposing. But I felt that I was walking in the streets, my heart was on a string, and I was ready to love everybody and everything. That's the song. I had this feeling of getting rid of self-imposed restrictions."

Strings written and arranged by Ennio Morricone. Additional string production by Marco Patrignani.

Buon Dio, ti prego aiutami

Passeggio per le strade di Roma
con il cuore sulla corda
Buon Dio, ti prego aiutami

Sono davvero così stanco
di fare la cosa giusta
Buon Dio, ti prego aiutami

Ci sono barilotti di esplosivo
in mezzo alle mie gambe
Buon Dio, ti prego aiutami

Continuerai a comprendermi
