A hit single inspired by the vicious London gangsters, the Kray brothers, whose world Morrissey felt often close to. This theme brought into the limelight again some years ago after Morrissey sent a wreath to Ronnie Kray's funeral.
Ronnie and Reggie Kray held a tight rein on 60's London with a network of crime, whilst maintaining public respect through legal businesses and charity events. They were eventually jailed in connection with the murder of Jack "The Hat" McVitie, as was dramatised in the excellent film "The Krays" featuring the Kemp brothers of eighties new-romantic outfit Spandeau Ballet. Un singolo di successo ispirato ai feroci gangster londinesi, i fratelli Kray, al cui mondo Morrissey si sentiva spesso vicino. Questo tema è tornato alla ribalta qualche anno fa dopo che Morrissey ha inviato una corona di fiori al funerale di Ronnie Kray.
Ronnie e Reggie Kray tenevano sotto stretto controllo la Londra degli anni '60 con una rete di criminalità, mantenendo il rispetto dell'opinione pubblica attraverso attività legali ed eventi di beneficenza. Alla fine furono incarcerati in relazione all'omicidio di Jack “The Hat” McVitie, come è stato drammatizzato nell'eccellente film “The Krays” con i fratelli Kemp del gruppo new-romantic degli anni Ottanta Spandeau Ballet.
