Wor(l)d of Morrissey
We're back! Welcome to the world of Morrissey's lyrics.

This site and all of the work made to keep it updated during the last 25 years are dedicated to my beloved friend MaCa65 who suddenly left this lonely planet
and me without words. Throughout the short stretch of time that we have been given to spend together as close friends, we shared many things,
thoughts, passions and some bits of Life. Back in 1983, together we discovered a band called The Smiths and together since then, we followed Morrissey's career
as one of the most influential and inspiring singer/artist/poet of our age. Maca65 has always been a strong supporter since when I first launched WoM,
so this is and will always be entirely for you, my friend. -- David

Jack The Ripper

Oh, you look so tired
Mouth is slack and wide
Ill-housed and ill-advised
Your face is as mean
As your life has been

Crash into my arms
I WANT YOU
You don't agree
But you don't refuse
I know you

And I know a place
Where no one is likely to pass
Oh, you don't care if it's late
And you don't care if you're lost
And oh, you look so tired
But tonight you presume too much
Too much, too much
And if it's the last
Thing I ever do
I'M GONNA GET YOU

Crash into my arms
I WANT YOU
You don't agree
But you don't refuse
I know you

(*)
And no one knows a thing about my life
I can come and go as I please
If I want to, I can stay
or if I want to, I can move
Nobody knows me
Nobody knows me - oh

(*) These lyrics only appear in the studio version of the song.

An interpretation of the lyrics, as Kolley Kibber from London suggests, could be the following. The protagonist could be Jack The Ripper who is speaking about himself. The "ill-housed and ill-advised" could then be his victims, the people he is describing, the people he's going to get and kill! Reading the lyrics from this point of view really makes more sense to the whole song. And when the protagonist finally addresses himself in the last verse "and no one knows a thing about my life/ I can come and go as I please", that's Jack The Ripper speaking somehow about his solitude.

Jack Lo Squartatore

Oh avete l'aria cosė stanca
Bocca distesa e aperta
Male alloggiati e mal consigliati
La vostra faccia č dura
come č stata la vostra vita

Crollate fra le mie braccia
IO VI VOGLIO
Non siete d'accordo
Ma non rifiutate
Io vi conosco

E conosco un posto
dove non č facile che passi qualcuno
Oh, non v'importa se č tardi
e non v'importa se ti sei perso
e oh, avete l'aria cosė stanca
ma stanotte presumete troppo
troppo, troppo
E se dovesse essere l'ultima
cosa che faccio
IO VI AVRO'!

Crollate fra le mie braccia
Io vi voglio
Non siete d'accordo
Ma non rifiutate
Io vi conosco

(*)
Nessuno sa nulla della mia vita
Posso andare e venire a mio piacimento
