Wor(l)d of Morrissey
We're back! Welcome to the world of Morrissey's lyrics.

This site and all of the work made to keep it updated during the last 25 years are dedicated to my beloved friend MaCa65 who suddenly left this lonely planet
and me without words. Throughout the short stretch of time that we have been given to spend together as close friends, we shared many things,
thoughts, passions and some bits of Life. Back in 1983, together we discovered a band called The Smiths and together since then, we followed Morrissey's career
as one of the most influential and inspiring singer/artist/poet of our age. Maca65 has always been a strong supporter since when I first launched WoM,
so this is and will always be entirely for you, my friend. -- David

Break Up The Family

The strange logic in your clumsiest line
It stayed emblazoned on my mind
You say: "Break up the family
And let's begin to live our lives..
I want to see all my friends tonight"
It wasn't Youth, it wasn't Life
Born Old, sadly wise
Resigned (well, we were)
To ending our lives
I'm so glad to grow older
To move away from those awful times
"I want to see all my friends tonight"
Yes, you found love but you weren't
At peace with your life
Home late, full of Hate
Despise the ties that bind
I'm so glad to grow older
To move away from those younger years
I'm in love for the first time
And I don't feel bad
Let me see all my old friends
Let me put my arms around them
'Cause I really do love them
Now does that sound mad?
Captain of games, solid framed
I stood on the touchline
Hailstones, driven home
In the car - No brakes? I don't mind
I'm so glad to grow older
To move away from those darker years
I'm in love for the first time
And I don't feel bad
So wish me luck, my friends
Goodbye
So wish me luck and then
Goodbye
So wish me luck, my friends
Goodbye

Rompi con la famiglia

La bizzarra logica nel tuo verso più goffo
è rimasta incisa nella mia mente
Tu dici: "Rompi con la famiglia
e iniziamo a vivere la nostra vita..
Stasera voglio vedere tutti i miei amici"
"Stasera voglio vedere tutti i miei amici"
Sì, avevi trovato l'amore ma non eri
in pace con la tua vita
Rincasavi tardi, pieno d'odio
Disprezzavi i legami che uniscono le persone
Oh sono così contento di crescere
di lasciarmi alle spalle quei primi anni
Sono innamorato per la prima volta
e non sto affatto male
Lascia che veda tutti i miei vecchi amici
Lascia che li abbracci
Perché li adoro davvero
E' forse da matti?
Ero capitano nelle partite, ben sviluppato,
mi mettevano sulla linea laterale
Grandinate, accompagnato a casa
nella sua macchina - niente freni? Non m'importa
Sono così contento di crescere
di lasciarmi alle spalle quegli anni più bui
Sono innamorato per la prima volta
e non sto affatto male
Quindi auguratemi buona fortuna, amici miei
Addio
Quindi auguratemi buona fortuna e poi
Addio
Quindi auguratemi buona fortuna, amici miei
Addio
