1 As a metaphor, anywhere you can find opportunities and offers for sex encounters and the protagonist would like to be able to exploit them. Even a simple mundane question ("what time is it?") can be interpreted as a flirting approach. 2 "There's more to life than what you read in books..." is a quotation from poet Kurt Vonnegut This sentiment reflects his frequent emphasis on human connection, action, and living in the moment, rather than just experiencing the world through literature. And for the young Morrissey this sounds so true since he confessed he spent most of his youth reading books and novels, rather than actually living. 3 A boy in the hand...: An adaptation of the English proverb quoted in the original text, "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush". 1 Come metafora, ovunque si possano trovare occasioni e proposte per incontri sessuali, il protagonista vorrebbe poterle sfruttare. Anche una semplice domanda banale («che ore sono?») può essere interpretata come un tentativo di flirt. 2 "C'è di più nella vita di quello che si legge nei libri..." è una citazione del poeta Kurt Vonnegut. Questo pensiero riflette la sua frequente enfasi sui legami umani, sull'azione e sul vivere il momento, piuttosto che limitarsi a sperimentare il mondo attraverso la letteratura. E per il giovane Morrissey questo suona così vero, dato che ha confessato di aver trascorso gran parte della sua giovinezza a leggere libri e romanzi, piuttosto che a vivere davvero. 3 A boy in the hand...: Adattamento del proverbio inglese citato nel testo originale "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush", paragonabile al nostro "meglio un uovo oggi che una gallina domani".
