24/04/2009 - Esce la ristampa dell'album di Morrissey con quattro inediti
Oggi, venerdì 24 aprile, tutti i fan di Morrissey troveranno nei negozi di dischi la ristampa di "Southpaw Grammar", il quinto album dell'ex cantante degli Smiths. Pubblicato originariamente nel 1995, è stato a lungo tra i primi posti della classifica britannica trainato dai singoli "Dagenham Dave" e "The Boy Racer". L'album è ripubblicato dalla Sony Music Entertainment con un'immagine di copertina diversa e - soprattutto - con l'aggiunta di 4 brani inediti! Il cantante ha collaborato personalmente alla realizzazione della ristampa scegliendo - oltre agli out-takes e alla rinnovata tracklist - anche le foto nuove e scrivendo le note di copertina.
La prima emissione vedrà la luce in un'edizione speciale con un booklet di 32 pagine, successivamente sarà disponibile la regolare versione CD jewelcase.

Southpaw Grammar re-released today
It's Friday the 24th of April and all the Morrissey's fans will find the re-release of Southpaw Grammar in the record shops. Originally published in 1995, this album was at the top of the UK charts with the singles "Dagenham Dave" and "The Boy Racer". The album has been released by Sony Music Entertainment with a different front cover and with four previously unreleased tracks! Morrissey actively took part with the project choosing the out-takes and the new tracklist. He also selected the new pictures and the sleeve notes.
The first release will be a special edition with a 32 pages booklet, then the album will be available as a regular CD jewelcase version.

"Sono sopravvissuto all'interrogatorio degli agenti dell'Immigrazione di Atlanta e Myrtle Beach mi vedrà sul palco domani sera (venerdì), e poi il mondo intero a seguire... se il mondo potrà sopportarlo. Uno dei tanti svantaggi di essere umano è che spesso i tour hanno bisogno di una spinta militare per partire. Beh, tutte le nostre risposte (a questo trattamento, ndt) saranno nelle nostre canzoni domani sera. Il bagno di sangue comincia alle 19:30. La vita ti mette alla prova. Sii pronto a qualsiasi cosa."

Morrissey con in braccio un bebè è la tenera immagine di copertina del nuovo album "Years of Refusal", che, secondo Nme.com, dovrebbe uscire il 23 febbraio (anche se dalla Universal fanno sapere che la data di uscita sarà il 16), dopo aver subito numerosi rinvii anche a causa di diversi cambiamenti di rotta nella produzione e nella line-up della backing band. "Years Of Refusal" è prodotto da Jerry Finn (già con Moz in "You Are The Quarry" del 2004) e vanta come ospite la voce dei Pretenders Chrissie Hynde nel brano "Shame Is The Name". L'album sarà preceduto dal singolo "I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris".

Morrissey holding a baby is the tender picture of the new album cover, which, according to Nme.com, should be released next February 23th (though people at Universal insist it would be the 16th), after several delays and afterthoughts about the production and the line-up of the backing band. "Years Of Refusal" is produced by Jerry Finn (already with Moz in "You Are The Quarry", 2004) and sees Pretenders' voice Chrissie Hynde as a guest in "Shame Is The Name". 08/11/2008 - Nuove informazioni sul tour 2009 e nuova data di pubblicazione per Years Of Refusal
Le tappe dei concerti negli USA precederanno le date già fissate per l'Australia e la Nuova Zelanda per il 2009. L'uscita dell'album "Years Of Refusal" è stata annunciata per il 23 febbraio 2009, data in cui partirà un lungo tour degli USA, cui, come detto, seguiranno le date in Oceania. (fonte: true-to-you)

08/11/2008 -  I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris è il nuovo singolo - Annunciate le nuove versioni rimasterizzate di Southpaw Grammar e Maladjusted
La BMG pubblicherà una versione ridisegnata e rimasterizzata di "Southpaw Grammar" con due nuovi brani, mentre la Universal farà uscire una versione rimasterizzata di "Maladjusted", il tutto una settimana dopo l'uscita di "Years Of Refusal". Il nuov album sarà preceduto dalla pubblicazione del nuovo singolo "I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris". I CD1 e CD2 avranno due nuove canzoni come b-sides: "Because Of My Poor Education" e "Shame Is The Name". Entrambe le canzoni sono state registrate con Jerry Finn durante le sessioni del nuovo album e "Shame Is The Name" vede la partecipazione della voce di Chrissie Hynde all'accompagnamento vocale.

BMG issue a redesigned and re-mastered Southpaw Grammar, and Universal issue a redesigned and re-mastered Maladjusted one week after Years Of Refusal.
The new album is preceded by "I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris" as a single release. CD1 and CD2 will be supported by two new songs "Because Of My Poor Education" and "Shame Is The Name". Both songs were recorded with Jerry Finn as part of the YOR sessions, and "Shame Is The Name" features additional vocals by Chrissie Hynde. |

Intervistato da Janice Long durante uno show radiofonico alla BBC 2, Morrissey ha confessato di avere cominciato a scrivere un'autobiografia. Il libro si baserebbe sulla sua carriera musicale anche se non ha precisato a che punto della stesura del volume il cantante si trovi. "C'è così tanta spazzatura scritta su di me e mi è difficile conviverci", ha detto. "Viene digerita dalla storia e poi diventa una parte della tua immagine". Morrissey ha anche affermato che il suo nuovo album, "Year Of Refusal" in uscita il prossimo febbraio, sarà il suo migliore. "E´ fantasticamente forte", ha detto. "La trovo una cosa molto interessante il fatto che dopo così tanto tempo, io sia in grado di creare musica così intensa".
Morrissey to write autobiography
Interviewed by Janice Long at the BBC 2 radio show last week, Morrissey admitted he began to write his autobiography. The book will describe his musical career although he didn't tell how many pages he'd already written. "So much crap is written about me and it's quite hard to live with sometimes because it all gets burned down in history and becomes part of whatever it is you are, the legacy, and it becomes very annoying," Morrissey said. There is no word yet on the publisher or publication date of the Morrissey memoir. For the moment, the singer wants simply to focus on his new solo album, Year of Refusal. To be released in February, Morrissey called the album "fantastically strong ... very, very strong ... after all these years ... the strongest". |

"The sound of the Smiths" è il titolo del nuovo doppio cd che sarà pubblicato a novembre prossimo grazie al lavoro di Morrissey e Johnny Marr. I due ex compagni si sono ritrovati per assemblare una raccolta degli Smiths, probabilmente una compilation definitiva nonostante si siano paventate più volte delle possibili riunioni del gruppo. L'album potrà essere acquistato in due formati: un primo disco mette insieme canzoni uscite come singoli o scelte come singoli e poi non utilizzate per pubblicazioni di questo genere, o un doppio disco in cui il secondo è composto da brani vari, rarità e registrazioni live. The Sound of the Smiths uscirà sia in formato normale che digitale.
New double CD for The Smiths
"The Sound Of The Smiths" is the title of a new double CD that will published next November thanks to Morrissey and Johnny Marr who reunite to assemble a collection of songs, probably a sort of definitive compilation. The album will be released in two different formats: the first record puts together songs published as singles or chosen as singles and then not used, the second will include rarities, live recordings and other tracks. The record will be available both in digital and normal package. |
