Il brano, estratto dall'album "You Are The Quarry", verrà pubblicato il prossimo 12 luglio e avrà tre nuove b-sides, "My Life Is An Endless Succession Of People Saying Goodbye", "Teenage Dad On His Estate" e "Mexico".
MORRISSEY has confirmed to NME.COM details of his new single "First Of The Gang To Die".
The song, lifted from the singer’s current album "You Are The Quarry", is released on July 12 and will be backed by three new B-sides, "My Life Is An Endless Succession Of People Saying Goodbye", "Teenage Dad On His Estate" and "Mexico". |
04/05/2004 - "The First Of The Gang To Die" secondo singolo
Dalla rivista ICE arriva la notizia che, dopo "Irish Blood, English Heart", il secondo estratto dall'album "You are the quarry" sarà "The First Of The Gang To Die". Il singolo uscirà in Inghilterra il prossimo 28 giugno anche in versione deluxe con un DVD bonus che conterrà il video ed altro, mentre più avanti durante l'anno è atteso un DVD vero e proprio.

From ICE magazine comes the voice that after "Irish Blood, English Heart", the next single from the album "You are the quarry" will be "The First Of The Gang To Die". The CD Single will be released in England next June, 28. A deluxe version of the release contains a bonus DVD with the video for the single plus some B-roll footage. A more extensive DVD will be released later in the year.

The first CD single "Irish blood, English heart", out inthe shops next May 10, will contain 3 songs that will not be part of the album "You are the quarry". Ecco alcuni dei temi trattati su “You are the quarry”, il nuovo album di Morrissey, in arrivo il prossimo 17 maggio. Si va dall’America intesa come USA, definita in “America is not the world” come una “land of opportunity in a just and truthful way / and where the President is not black, female or gay”, alla sfortuna amorosa, che in “I’m not sorry” fa dire al cantante “the woman of my dreams, she never came along / the woman of my dreams, well, there never was one”. Nel testo di “I have forgiven Jesus”, Morrissey canta il passaggio “Monday, humiliation / Tuesday, suffocation / Wednesday, condescension / Thursday is pathetic / By Friday, life has killed me”. Ed in “Irish blood, English heart”, il primo singolo, il cantante afferma “no regime can buy or sell me”.

Morrissey è stato nominato direttore artistico del Meltdown, uno tra i più prestigiosi festival britannici; ogni anno la manifestazione viene affidata ad un artista, e nelle scorse edizioni si sono alternati, tra gli altri, John Peel e David Bowie. Morrissey dovrebbe annunciare il cartellone del Meltdown di quest'anno, in scena a Londra a metà del prossimo giugno, entro pochi giorni.
Morrissey named director of the Meltdown festival
Morrissey will curate this year's Meltdown festival, which takes place at London's South Bank Centre between the 11th and 27th of June. He will programme the entire event, and will essentially be able to create his dream festival line up. Past curators include Nick Cave, John Peel, David Bowie and Lee 'Scratch' Perry. Morrissey has announced that "This year's Meltdown will be the best - very loud, very entertaining and very funny." The line up will be announced over the next six weeks. |

Morrissey, da anni residente negli Stati Uniti, ha annunciato che tornerà a cantare a Manchester dopo 12 anni di assenza. Durante il concerto probabilmente eseguirà vari estratti dal nuovo album, intitolato "You are the quarry", che sarà disponibile dal prossimo 17 maggio e sarà anticipato dal singolo "Irish blood, English heart" il 10 maggio. I biglietti per lo show, fissato alla MEN Arena, saranno in vendita già a partire dal 28 febbraio. Già scelto il gruppo di supporto: a riscaldare la platea in attesa di Morrissey saranno i Franz Ferdinand di Glasgow.

Morrissey, living for years in the U.S., has announced that he will be back singing in Manchester after 12 years. During the concert he will perform new tracks from his new album, "You are the quarry", in the shops on next May, 17. "Irish blood, English heart" will be out on May, 10 as the first single. Tickets for the show at the MEN Arena, will be available next February, 28. The support band has already been chosen: Franz Ferdinand from Glasgow. |

Alain Whyte, il chitarrista di Morrissey, intervistato dalla BBC, ha riferito che Morrissey ed il suo gruppo hanno registrato una trentina di canzoni presso l'Hook End Manor nell'Oxfordshire col produttore Jerry Finn. Il futuro CD, "You are the quarry" è una via di mezzo tra "Vauxhall & I" e "Your arsenal". "Sarà un ottimo album, credo che i fan saranno veramente eccitati. Personalmente penso che si tratti del miglior disco di Morrissey", ha detto Whyte.
New details on Morrissey's new album, 30 songs recorded
Alain Whyte, Morrissey's guitarist, had an interview with BBC last week and he said that Morrissey and his band have recorded 30 songs at the Hook End Manor, Oxfordshire with producer Jerry Finn. "You are the quarry" is halfway between "Vauxhall and I" and "Your arsenal". Whyte also said: "It will be a great album, I think the fans will be very excited. Personally I think this is Morrissey's best revord ever." |
